   I saw them on stage in 2006, I was 23. I’m still a big fan of them, I hope they’ll pass in Europe soon

   The most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard . I’m from Cleveland and played in and around Akron/Cuyahoga Falls for years. Chrissie was and still is the best talent from Ohio … The Dead Boy’s are a close second along with The Rasberries. But no one has that Chrissie tone, and ability to write songs that make you feel something !

   I went to the Boston show a week ago and was very upset that this song was not on the play list. Waited 30 years to hear them live and I missed the best song. O well there is always next time.

   Many years ago in another lifetime (in the early ’80’s) I played bass in a band that used to do dates at a club on Market St in Akron. One night Chrissie came backstage after a set. She was very engaging to say the least. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and quite frankly found her to be a very enchanting woman as well. It is no wonder Chrissie Hynde has had such a remarkable career.

   Yep, she’s from Akron in the USA. She went to London to go into a band, an after 4 or 5 years she started Pretenders.

    As many others have commented, Chrissie is from Akron, Ohio, and still spends a lot of time here, when she is not in Britain. She works on a lot of causes in our area, and recently helped campaign against a recall attempt for our mayor. She owns a very nice Vegan restaurant in town. Most of us know right where she lives, and few bother her. We love her here. She is our city’s daughter. I write this from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. (My city was gone)

    she’s timeless…..saw them in concert and she’ll always give you a good show….maybe more of the new artists should take lessons from Chrissie and be so humble…

    Chrissie is not from detroit, she only mentions it in the line “Detroit leaning” as a reference to a style of driving the driver leans back low behind the wheel

    Chrissie Hynde is from Akron Ohio, not Detroit. Listen to “My City Was Gone” – she talks about going back to Akron and finding out how much it had changed since she left.

    LouieWasHere66, what is the source for this quote/paraphrase?

    The only reference I can google for this is the one you make here and a leap/inference by someone on an obscure blog back in 2003.
